Fink Again 24-7 Preserve Connector Flying Dog Loop Strava

Flying Domestic dog Trail

The Flying Canis familiaris trail is a fun trail that arcs between the middle of  24-7 over to the top of the Cobblestone Loop above Glenwild. In other words, you need to climb some other trail to get to it. This is one of the best trails in the area. If you're going to do annihilation in the Jeremy Ranch area, yous demand to exercise this one.

South from the Viewpoint on Flying Dog at 7200 feet height. August 31, 2007.

The Flight Dog trail is very well-planned and expertly constructed. Early on-intermediate riders will beloved this trail, but experts volition also. Only the strongest beginners should consider information technology, considering of the length (the shortest route is a 10-mile ride with 1500 vertical feet summit modify). Well-nigh riders feel the best riding direction is counterclockwise.

The trail instructions below include the ten-mile easier ride, a 16-mile moderate ride, and a tough 23-mile grinfest with 3000 feet of climbing. And you lot tin can add a dip down the Bobs Bowl DH trails while you're passing by. At that place are a lot of great options here.

This is Flight Canis familiaris as it forks uphill of Jeremy 24-7.

The ride starts in rocky oakbrush foothill terrain. In that location are iii primary trailheads: Graduate (most the school in Jeremy Ranch and climbing upwardly via Fink Again), Jeremy (where the pavement meets the E Canyon gravel road), and Glenwild. The shortest access to the trail is through Jeremy, but most riders offset at Glenwild.

I'g a bit upward the Preserve Connector trail, which cuts beyond between the two sides of Flying Domestic dog, looking westward over Jeremy Ranch. Many riders employ the Connector equally role of their Flight Dog ride.

As the trail climbs, the oak gets bigger, so a few maples bring together in. As you climb college and hit the north-facing slopes, you enter aspen forest, with a fir here and there. Throughout the ride, there's an array of open up brush slopes, meadows, views, and forest.

The fun-to-piece of work ratio is high here. The trail curves and dips constantly. Switchbacks and climbing turns are smooth and well-designed.

For a simple loop, turn onto Flight Dog from 24-7, then fork right to ride uphill on the Preserve Connector trail. At the top, fork left on the western side of Flying Domestic dog to return to 24-seven.

Left: Typical gambel oak slope.
Right: Aspen at 7800 feet.

A much-overlooked option is to starting time past climbing Graduate and Fink Over again, then proceed to Flying Dog. Later any short or long ride you chose to do, caput downwardly 1 of the DH freeride trails. If you've got anything left, keep circling back upwardly until you've gotten your make full. Ant Farm, Team Cutthroat, and Dropout are great downhill-only routes with a lot of fun stuff. (These trails are described on the Jeremy Ranch 24-7 trail folio.) But yous don't demand to be an adept to ride them. Just go around the stuff that scares you.

Typical trail area on Flying Dog.

Getting there:

Jeremy Ranch 24-7: Only after Parley's Summit, take the Jeremy Ranch exit and turn n (left) under the expressway. Plow left at the starting time finish sign, then take the adjacent right (Jeremy Ranch Drive). Continue until the road turns sharply around to the right, where you'll see the clay Eastward Coulee Road branching off to the left. Park and climb the ST on the east side of the route (the direction your auto was facing every bit you came effectually the paved turn).

A sample of the loving attention this trail has received: Many drainages take stone armor-plating. Several swampy areas have wooden boardwalks.

Glenwild: At the I-80 Park City exit, become north (left from the exit if yous're coming from SLC) to the frontage road. Turn right. About 1/4 mile later at the 2nd road on your left, turn left. Find the trail parking area just earlier the northbound road crosses the creek. (Y'all'll see the trail map kiosk and bathroom). GPS N forty 43.662' Due west 111 32.051'. Caput upwardly the road to start your ride. Just past the bridge, turn left on singletrack and you're on the Stealth Trail heading clockwise.
Jeremy Ranch, Graduate trailhead:
At the I-80 Park City exit, become north (left from the exit if you're coming from SLC) to the frontage road. Plough left on the frontage road. Next turn left once again toward the school. As yous pass the school, in that location's parking on the left. Just past the school, there's a fenced area with a shed on the correct, and a gravel roadway on the far side. Most 100 yards downwardly this gravel path, at the end of a wide gravel area (don't park here), there'southward a wooden span. That'southward your trail. At the first fork, go on R. At the 2nd fork (Fink Over again), become L.
